The Car Park entrance is on your left around the first bend in the road.
Members are asked to be careful when exiting the Car Park, due to the amount of road traffic at certain times. Go past them, and in a short distance, the road bears sharply left. Onneley Village Hall is on your right hand side, and stands at the corner of School Lane. Turn right and proceed for approximately three quarters of a mile, the lake will appear on your left-hand side and if you turn left down the Private Road, the Car Park entrance is on your left, by the waters edge. The lake is easily recognisable by the Shed situated at the road end of the lake. Park your vehicle on the Car Park.
Mixed Fishery: (Depths from 2 – 6 feet) Species available: Bream, Tench, Roach, Perch, Crucian Carp, Eide, Chubb. Barbel and Trout! (The lake used to be a trout fishery, and there are still a few stragglers left!!!)
Fields Farm, off School Lane, Onneley:
Directions for the waters are as those for ‘Gordon’s Pool’. Turn into School Lane, off the A525, and proceed approximately 300 - 400 yards, where you will come to a left turn (this is the first proper left turn that you come to), opposite a white painted house on your right. Turn left, and proceed down the lane, past the sets of metal gates, on your right, until you come to a 90 degree left hand bend in the road. Take the right fork down the farm track, and do not follow the metalled road surface to the left, which is signposted as a No Through Road. Stay on the unmade track for about 150 to 200 yards, when you will come to farm buildings on your left, and go through the right hand open gateway onto the Car Park, which is by the first pool. The Second pool lies beyond the First pool, and the Third pool is over the rise, and down the hill beyond this Second pool.
Members are advised that the extended Car Park Pool has Crucian; Common; Koi; Ghost and Mirror Carp along with Roach; Tench; Perch; Rudd and Golden Orfe stocked in abundance. The depth is extremely variable around the pool, and Members are advised to ‘plumb’ their chosen swim.
The Second Pool, New Pool, contains Roach, Perch, Crucian Carp, Rudd, Eide and Tench. The fish have ‘come on’, dramatically in the 2 years since the first stocking, and are now putting on weight. Good catches of fish around the 1/2lb to 3/41b mark are being taken by Members. Please be aware that the water is very clear for most of the time, and caution needs to be taken when walking around the pool for fear of scaring the fish from your chosen swim.
The Third Pool, which is over the field beyond the first two waters, is being used as a ‘stock pond’, but can be fished, and there is a roadway down to the water.
Elsewhere on the estate there are some other small pools, which can be found over to the right of the main pools, when standing on the car park looking at the waters. These are a "walk" away, and would only accommodate some one, two or three anglers. However, they are ‘stuffed full’ of Rudd, from ‘razorblades’ to over a pound, and will provide good sport on light tackle. Please be aware that, in these ponds, are some very large Perch, which have been caught to over 3lbs in weight, and could cause you a surprise if you hook into one.
