The Club is trying to organise a fishing trip in late August/Early September on a Sunday to Stockton Reservoir in Warwickshire. There are 30 places available, and anyone interested please send me an e-mail on barry.g.simpson@ntlworld.com, or a text on 07877-624903. It a decent Bream water, with good quanties of other species of Coarse fish. Steve Bate is hoping to include a Match within the trip, however, if you are not interested in fishing the Match, please still put your name down. The Coach parks on the Lake car park, which also doubles as a car park for the local Pub, which does serve food.

The final price is not knows as yet, as I am waiting for some quotes from local coach companies, but we are trying to keep it below £20 per person. Names can also be given to Steve Bate, the Club Match Secretary, but we need to know of the interest from Members by the next Club Meeting, details below.

May 1st News:

Madeley Manor:

There is a new recruit to the 'Lake Police' on the Manor. The owners neighbour, whose name is Chris Condliffe, and his wife, Jessica, who have written permission from the owner to walk their dogs and shoot on the land. He is 6ft 6" tall, with two Staffordshire Bull Terriers and a gun, and will shift off kids, and it seems to do the trick.

Also PC Bridgett, of Madeley Police, has been notified about the renewed partying, and will start patrolling on Friday and Saturday nights. He has also been told that they are lighting fires, which could be dangerous in the dry weather, if we have any!

LATEST FROM THE ENVIRONMENT AGENCY

Members Please Note:

Please ensure that you have a current Rod Licence, the Environment Agency are placing further importance on those anglers who do not possess a current licence. In 2009, there were 4500 prosecutions for none possession out of the 120,000 licences that they checked. Last Summer, 11 anglers were caught fishing without licences, and were fined a combined total of £1775.00.

Here are few of the excusues that have been offered for none possession of a valid licence, and all do not hold water.

It's in my other bag; this is a private lake, so I don't need one; I bought it online, and forgot to print off the confirmation; I thought it lasted forever; my wife ususally buys it for me; it's part of the day ticket charge, isn't it.

Also. there are 2 new bylaws which they plan to introduce in June 2010. They intend to restrict which fish can be caught and removed, and they intend to remove the Brown Trout close season from enclosed stillwaters.

On a lighter note, you can now get angling guides online and can search by place name or postcode anywhere in England or Wales. You can also download your own FREE area guide for each of the 7 regions under the Environment Agency control, go to www.environment-agency.gov.uk/wheretofish.

NATIONAL FISHING MONTH will last from July 17th to August 15th 2010, with several National events as well as a wide range of local activities. Further details can be found on www.nationalfishingmonth.com or www.environment-agency.gov.uk/anglingevents.

The next Club Match is on Sunday May 2nd 2010 at FIELDS FARM. This is the Bank Holiday Weekend. If you are interested in taking part, please contact Steve Bate, the Club Match Secretary, who will give you all the details

Meeting April 21st 2010:

The Club is in a healthy position financially, with all the rents for the waters either paid, or the money is in hand to pay them.

Bar Hill Bottom Pools are fishing very well, with decent Crucian Carp, Tench and Roach showing up in catches

There have been 2 Ghost Carp caught at Fields Farm, weighing in at 9 lbs 4 oz and 18 lbs 2 oz respectively.

The Bream are showing at Madeley Manor

There will be a Working Party in the very near future at Bar Hill Top Pools, which will be to make safe or replace the existing pags. This will be discussed at the next Club meeting in May, and all volunteers will be most welcome.

We are considering organising a Club Day Trip to fish possibly Earlswood or Stockton Resevoirs in Warwickshire. No prices are available as yet, but we are asking anyone who is interested to give their name and contact numbers to any of the Committee Members. This will also be discussed at the next Meeting in May.

MARCH 2010:

We have now been granted permission to put a combination lock on the entrance gate to Bar Hill Top Pools, and the gate will be locked as from FRIDAY 19th MARCH 2010. If you have not already received either an e-mail or a text, giving you the number please contact any of the numbers shown below.

Members are requested to close and lock the gate after entry, as well as when leaving the Top Pools.

Les Taylor - Club Treasurer: 07743 158961 mobile

Ron Kendrick - Club Chairman: 01782 750665 Home 07551647354 mobile

Barry Simpson - Club Secretary: 01782-329153 Home 07877 624903 mobile

There are still places available for new Members, so if you have any friends, relatives or work colleagues that may be interested, please contact the Secretary, Barry Simpson, in the first instance.

Meeting 20th January 2010:

Main things that came out of the Meeting were:

1: Would Members please remember to lock the barrier on the Car Park at Madeley Manor, as, on a number of occasions, the lock has been left just hanging loose. This could lead to 'unwanted' guest getting onto the car park, who, once there can be very hard to have removed. Also, it would allow, heaven forbid, your car to be broken into and stolen. If the barrier is locked, then at least your car can not be taken away!! Please try and be more vigilant, not just for yourselves, but for other members.

2: Once we have permission from the owner, it is intended to put a combination lock, and chain, on the gate leading to the Top Pools at Bar Hill. The combination will be sent to you in the post.

3: Fields Farm: The owner will be moving the car park more over to the right of it current position in the next weeks, and also making a small car park between the Car Park Pool and New Pool.

4: It was decided that we needed to concentrate efforts in making the pags on Bar Hill Top Pools, both front and back, safer, and we are finding out prices and the supply of materials that we require. Once the project has been planned, we will be organising a work party, or paries, to get the work done. Please keep your eye on this page for any further developments. Once the work on the Top Pools is complete, it is the intention to do some work on the pegs on Bar Hill Bottom Pools.

5: If you have any friends, relatives or work colleagues who may be interested in joining the Club, there are places available.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The Annual General Meeting took place at Newcastle Rugby Club on Thursday December 3rd 2009, and here is a brief resume of what went on:

Les Taylor, the Club Treasurer, presented the Balance Sheet for 2008/09 to the Members present, and it showed a healthy balance being carried forward. This means that we are in a very good position financialy, and are in a much better position that most other Clubs of our size. This means that the Subscriptions for 2010 will remain as those for 2009, and there has now not been an increase for 5 years. The Balance Sheet was adopted, and passed unanimously.

Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, both our President, Nigel Woodcock, and Chairman, Joe Smith stood down from their positions. Joe was made a Life Member of the Club in recognition for his contributions to the club over the years.

The new Club President is Jim Taylor, who has been with the Club for a long time, and has served as both Vice Chairman and Chairman previously. We thank Jim for taking over the post, and would wish him well in his new position.

The current Vice Chairman, Ron Kendrick, was nominated as Chairman and this was passed unanimously. This of course left Ron's old position open, and the nomnation for this was Mick Suddes, who accepted, and was passed unanimously. Most of you will know Ron and Mick, as they are two of the Water Bailiffs for the Club.

The other Club Officials remain as last year, with the addition of Craig Wooliscroft to the General Committee (Please see the Home page)

Club Meetings will now revert to Monthly Meetings, and Meeting Dates can be found further down the page.

As from January 2010, any Night Fishing sessions at Madeley Manor MUST BE PRE-BOOKED AT LEAST 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF FISHING, a total of only 6 Anglers per night being allowed. Booking can be made by ringing either Ron Kendrick 01782-750665 (Home) 07944-626247 (Mobile); Craig Wooliscroft 01782-722065 (Home)  or Mick Suddes 01782- .

The Committee will look into the opportunities for grant aid to allow us to provide Disabled Angler Friendly pegs on some of our waters.

There will be 2 Work Party's detailed on the 2010 card, and members who are available to attend need to contact the name that will be on the new card.

One of the major negative points that came out was in regard to the amount of litter that has been left on the bankside at all of our waters. Members are reminded of Rule 3::Members are responsible for ensuring that their swim is free from any litter, and or discarded tackle before, AND AFTER, fishing. This means that you take any litter away with you, and NOT throw it in the hedgerows that surround the pools.

GENERAL:

IMPORTANT:ALL MEMBERS PLEASE READ

TO CORRECT ANY RUMOURS THAT YOU MAY HEAR, OR HAVE HEARD. ABOUT THE CLUB BEING BANKRUPT AND HAVING NO MONEY, THIS IS TOTALLY 100% UNTRUE.

WE ALREADY HAVE THE MONEY FOR THE MADELEY MANOR RENTAL IN THE BANK, AWAITING TO PAY, AS SOON AS THE LICENCE AND PAPERWORK  COME THROUGH FROM THE OWNER.

I WOULD ASK THE PERSON, OR PERSONS, WHO HAVE STARTED THE RUMOUR, TO STOP IMMEDIATELY FROM SPREADING MALICIOUS AND UNTRUE STORIES ABOUT THE ANGLING CLUB, WHICH CAN ONLY CAUSE UNREST WITHIN THE CLUB, AND DAMAGE OUR EXTREMELY GOOD REPUTATION WITH OUR LANDOWNERS, AS WELL AS THE REST OF THE OUTSIDE WORLD.

Barry G Simpson - Club Secretary, Founding and Life Member
